New Set Of Retainers

I got myself a set of new retainers. The old ones I have been wearing for a year got cracks in them and I worry that if I rip them off my mouth one day I will have nothing to wear at night. That scares me for I don't wanna go back to having crooked teeth after fixing it that cost us a fortune plus the fact that I suffered so much discomfort during one and a half years of my treatment.

My issue of this new set is that the upper one is so tight that it hurts when I take it off in the morning. Supposed to not hurt anymore too since they were molded as it is the current form or spacing of my teeth. Although the sore isn't as bad as before yet still it hurts. I guess just few more nights wearing them and I'll be okay, it just need a little bit of getting used to my new retainers before I can totally feel comfortable with them.

My Teeth "Before" and "After" Braces

How happy I am I have finally freed myself from wearing braces. You don't know how uncomfortable they are unless you experienced wearing them yourself. If you had or currently wearing braces you know exactly what I am talking about. One and a half long years seemed forever waiting for that final day I have my teeth fixed. Thank God I am done with my treatment and now just wearing my retainers. As my orthodontist instructed I should wear the upper retainer for two weeks 'coz of one front tooth that is bulging out. The rest of the days of my life will be wearing those clear plastic retainers at night time to avoid spending another couple thousand bucks in the future for my teeth will naturally shift as I age.

Anyways, here are my photo compilation of my braces to keep track of the progress we've done every two months during my whole treatment period.

............... first photo below is a shot of my teeth the very day Dr. Mikaluncak put them onto my mouth.
......... two months after, as you can see the most crooked tooth is having a small space from the bigger one...those spiral wire created the space and it twisted the tooth as weeks went by....
............ third photo below was taken after 9 months of my treatment... there are still more teeth need to be adjusted during this phase but it's only the doctor can tell which one.......

........... photo below was the last day I had them on... November 12 was my last visit to Dr. Mik to remove them.....as you can see the color of my teeth here have changed a bit due to the stain from drinking soda which of course was being cleaned by our family dentist 3 days after the removal of my braces...
.....last but not the least, MY SPARKLING BRAND NEW SMILE captured through the use of my webcam...I am yet to take decent photos using a digital camera to take a closer look the tremendous magic that braces have done to my teeth. KUDOS TO MY HUSBAND FOR SPENDING 5,525 USD (I mean no offense here for declaring how much we've paid, this is just for the sake of those detractors who want to satisfy their curiosity) in full payment for my braces alone...this of course not including the past dentist visits in order to prepare my teeth for the braces.

Bye Bye Braces, Hellow Retainers!

For a year and a half of wearing my braces I finally freed myself from wearing those bulky, sharp and full of discomfort brackets and wires in my mouth. Dr. Mik, my orthodontist took them out today and I couldn't be happier. Yeah, my braces are gone but I will never forget all the pains and hassles I endure during those long months I had them in my mouth. But don't get me wrong, I don't regret we decided to have my teeth fixed. As they say, no pain no gain. And my gain is having this beautiful smile, wink!

Although I am out from wires I still have to wear clear plastic retainers at least all day everyday for two weeks to keep the teeth stable where they are. There is one front tooth that is a little bit out on the side that the Dr. advised me to wear retainers constantly at least two weeks so it will totally be straightened. That's a nice deal, that I surely do Doc.Mik. And then after that I may then just wear retainers at bed time 'till the morning. So upset here I couldn't post pictures of the "before" and "after" shots of my teeth. I really want them to be posted here so I can have a sort of remembrance of my once crooked teeth to being straight.

Last Day

Today is my last day I am wearing my braces. I will have my last appointment to my orthodontist tomorrow at 10 in the morning. He is going to take off my braces at long last and just replace them with retainers. Huh! I am too anxious for that to happen. I am just so freaking tired of these things in my mouth. I never got to get used to them simply because they are not a natural part of my mouth. Promise I will take pictures of my teeth with braces on for the last time and after braces photos too. I know it's not important for everybody who will just drop by here and peek what is happening in me but it does makes a great remembrance of my once "crooked" teeth.

Update On My Braces

I just had my braces adjusted and checked again this morning and the doctor said I am doing pretty good. There is almost no crooked teeth shown in my mouth now but some teeth still need adjustments before we can totally call it straight. 9 months I have been wearing these braces which is too much of a burden for me. I thought it was just a bed of roses but I was so wrong for I have had some down moments with them, so much discomfort, big sores due to brackets rubbed against my mouth plus the baby accidentally hits me sometimes.

My husband once consoled me that we didn't just pay for my braces. Instead he said that I have done a big achievement wearing them towards a better and prettier teeth which I agree 100%. 7 more months to go and I'll be totally off these braces! Yeeehaw! By the way, here's how my teeth look now. Those two crooked teeth in the upper front are now in their proper position, the braces really twisted them pretty well that it made my mouth a better looking mouth than ever before lolz.

These Things Keep Poking Me

I had my braces adjusted again for the third time last Wednesday. Dr. Mik said that we are doing good in this journey towards having straight teeth. He said that I can get rid of these braces at his predicted time which will happen in 9 months. Mind you, 9 more months left and that to me seems very long!! I am tired of these braces honestly but if it's what it takes to have better looking teeth then I continue wearing them.

Right now I feel a little discomfort in both upper and lower of my mouth because my teeth are moving and wires starting to poke me everytime I chew something or move my mouth a bit. There is a scratch made to the right side that will become a canker sore soon. I hate it, it is too painful eh!!

Update On My Braces

I had my visit to the orthodontist this morning, as usual Dr. Mik is so friendly and talked to me of my holidays. I thought it was so nice of him to do that. Anyways, back to my braces, he removed the two coils in the upper part and put brackets in two of the most crooked teeth to rotate them in the right position.

I am glad he did remove those two uncomfy and bulky coils for I got so tired of them keep getting my way especially when I want to laugh or smile so big. He replaced it with just a lighter wire and a lot smaller than the latter.

Right now, my teeth are starting to hurt but I managed to eat some of the hard and dry grits that I left from yesterday. That was gonna be the last solid food I could eat until my mouth gets better and overcome the soreness due to adjustment of the braces today.

I'm In Terrible Pain Right Now!

I had my braces adjusted yesterday and now it hurts so bad. They changed the old wire into a new one which I believe is tighter than the latter that is why the pain I feel right now is almost unbearable. I hate it, it sucks! It is very painful even just a single touch to my teeth or even drinking fluids.

I wished I didn't get braces if I suffer like this. I have a baby to look after and there is no one around to do my job. I guess I just have to endure the pain, forget it for a while and focus my attention to other things and to my baby especially for she needs me. I feel guilty though for last night she tried to have my attention and my mouth was hurting so bad so I pushed her and said to leave me alone. My husband saw it and moments later he said that I'm such a bitch!

Yeah I can only be a bitch if I feel something that is very painful and sore! I hope this will get better tomorrow though for I am gonna go out and watch that phenomenal movie of the year that I've anticipated for so long.

My Braces 2 Months After

I decided to take photos of my teeth with braces on every two months to keep track of the progress they bring to my mouth. Today is the second month since I've got these braces. So far so good and it's working. As you have noticed, it created a small space above just where the very crooked tooth is shown, a cavity is developing up there because I couldn't brush nor floss very well in that part there. To view the photo when I just had my braces click here.

It took me a while to get used of these sharp brackets and all the wires in my mouth just because of the fact it's not part of my mouth. At this point, I still have a hard time dealing with these things especially in the morning when I wake up. My lips just stick to the brackets which is so painful and it sucks. However, I am thinking of the sweet smile I'm gonna have at the end of the treatment, I guess it's all worth it, worth the time and worth the very big expense we invested to this.

The Very Day I Have My Braces On

Today I finally have my lifelong dream fulfilled. Again my husband made it happen. I've wished several times over and he granted it all. I will not forget this very day as my braces finally put in my mouth. This is going to be the beginning of a brighter and sweeter smile starting today.

How happy I am to finally be able to smile as wide as I can and not feeling conscious about my crooked teeth. In one and a half years time, I will be wearing my braces and hopefully by then I will have a set of straight teeth. I will no longer envy other people who have very nice teeth because I'm gonna have one in due time.

Thank you so much my husband for granting my wish again, paid in full pa so there'll be no worries of bills coming up in the mailbox!
