No Basements In Texas

I do have a lot of friends living in other states. I do have circle of friends too and sometimes we talk about home renovation or home remodeling and we even talk about basements. We asked ourselves why houses in Texas have no basements at all. Unlike in other states, it would be unusual for a house without one.

I asked some of my friends who live in Iowa and other neighboring states if they do have basements, they all said yes. In fact, there is this friend who just had their basement installed with a basement floor tile for they were tired of their old ancient basement laminate floor.

Vinyl Siding NJ

We couldn't be more happier than having our own house to live with big yards. It is not a newly constructed house yet the foundation was built strongly so after a decade of facing difficult calamities, the house still standing strong and really no problems with foundation itself. Its walls are yellow colored brick. Somehow we wished we had a vinyl siding because we thought it looked pretty. But hey, I shouldn't complain nor say anything that criticizes the house for it's been our shelter for almost two years providing us roof from the rain and comfort during cold Winter months.

I am just saying vinyl siding on a house would look better and prettier. Houses I have seen on the website of www.tristatewindowsandsiding.com are gorgeous. So if you are out there wanting to have your walls upgraded and living in the New Jersey area, please visit or consider vinyl siding NJ to be the company to do all the siding job for your home. Promise you will love their work. They have been on the business for many years and have been committed and dedicated to providing quality workmanship and customer satisfaction that ranked them among the very best. Plus they have an outstanding reputation with more than 30 years of hands-on experience in Manufacturing, Construction, Sales and Customer Service to form what has proven to be New Jersey and New York's # 1 choice for sunrooms,
windows, and siding.

No Ash To Clean

I see most houses old and new are built with fireplace in them. I see not all people are using their fireplace during Winter and I can only understand why. Fireplaces can sometimes be a mess, why? Because if you light it up of course the logs are burning and produce smoke and ash. Cleaning up the ash is such a trouble so they would rather be using their heater than enjoy the heat that their fireplace can give. There is a great alternative to that, an electric fireplace mantel can be beautiful center piece in your living at the same time it replaces the real fire place by simply plugging it in, sit back and enjoy the electric fireplace. It has become very popular nowadays because of their imitation look of masonry fireplaces.

A Remodeled Kitchen

One thing that makes me very excited right now even if this isn't happening yet is to look forward to having our kitchen remodeled. I am pretty sure that it is going to be the best place in the house I want to stay for a long period of time and perhaps makes me a better cook? Funny! We already have an idea or a plan how is it going to look like after the big job is done. We will have new refaced cabinets in lighter color, new counter tops, quieter and easy to pull out drawers, new kitchen appliances and etc. And of course I will also put a new Kitchen Curtains on the big glass window in the dining area where is just connected to the kitchen to make it even more prettier. Besides, kitchen curtains help keeping the heat of the sun out of the house.

Hopefully this can be done in a week or two. I really hope so! Oh somebody's hear our little prayers! We already have a contract signed, all we need is the budget so cabinet people can start right away. Once we will have the money (which I'm positive can be here sometime next week) we will contact cabinetfacers and have them transformed our old fashion kitchen.

What Catches My Attention

When I go to a house or an establishment where I can have all the time to see all the beautiful things inside of that place, the very first that could catch my attention is the modern furniture. Like for instance, when we went to check in at one of the Air Force Village's guest rooms, the moment I entered the door, I saw this neatly arranged dining table just adjacent to the small bar they have. When I went to the bedroom, there it was a nice contemporary bedroom with all the matching bedding and bed skirting in blue just wowed me. I am not into furniture but I can appreciate fine furniture if I see one.

Bath Vanity

I came in a nice and orderly home including the bathrooms, almost no clutter. The husband has been busy fixing stuff at home. He even fixed the holes on the wall of Jadyn's bath, sealed the gaps between floors and floorboards, put back switches and so on. What a nice life to come home to a comfortable home where everything is within reach. But with all the comfort we have, there still one thing I wish we have, a bath vanity. Although we have bathroom cabinets but I do feel we need a vanity to put stuff on to make them accessible all the time or everytime we use the bathroom.

Several Bathrooms

The advantage of having two or more bathrooms in the house is that you don't have to wait for somebody to get done using the bathroom when you feel like using it because since you have a spare bathroom, you can just get in there and relieve yourself. I have experienced several times from the past, I had to wait for my husband taking a shower while I was suffering, holding the call of nature for too long didn't feel good.

Now that we moved in to our own house and we have three bathrooms to use, I am comfortable. We are done doing the two bathrooms, the master bath and Jadyn's bathroom are repainted, toilet bowls replaced, new flooring is on and most of all we made it like new. The third bathroom is yet to be fixed. To do that, I need to browse at betterbathrooms.com so I can get ideas on what to do with the third one. It should be nice and neat since it is going to be our guest's bathroom in the future.

New Bed For Baby Girl

If I were to buy a new bed for our Princess Baden, I'd like to buy something that we don't need to change in a couple of years. I want to look at adjustable beds online and see if I can find that very bed I would like to put in her bedroom. I also want something that I could use comfortably when the second baby is here because for sure I am going to be sleeping in a separate bedroom far from my husband because I don't whant to cause him sleepless night and that can only be done by sleeping in Baden's bedroom. Of course the older girl wants to sleep beside me so a queen size adjustable bed would be a perfect bed for three of us.

Concrete And Fences Are Up

These are the finished work here, the first picture is the side fence facing to the road, they put new panels there just because they have to make gate door..

..above is the fence that divides us from the neighbor, we call it as privacy fence...
..right here are paved pathway..above photo is where the back porch is gonna be built...

....back of the house..now we're comfy walking here...

Hired Mexican Workers

I ought to post these photos a long time ago but for some reason I kept holding them up. Since I feel like posting them today, let me go ahead and explain what's going on in these photos.

It was my husband's idea to put concrete in the backyard so we don't have to walk on the dirt when we go around the house, another thing is that he wants to put a back porch so we can sit comfortably outside during Fall and Spring when the weather is nice. I must admit, I was quite reluctant at first because it bothers me how expensive it would cost him for that project. 5,125 US dollars is the total amount after all the job is done this of course including the cost of the fence.

These are days during the construction of concrete pavement and metal fence pools, very far from finishing...took them 4 days to completely make the job done.
...... leveling the ground, removing the old bricks that were in there and put some dirt to make it plain
.... such a big job that my husband needs to hire a couple of workers to do it in behalf of him...
... the new old fence will go right here giving us privacy from the neighbors...
...... this is the front view of the side fence taken from the outside...

...last but the least, obviously this is going to be concrete here too

Bathroom Faucets

..........below is my husband caught in action working the plumbing under the sink. He installed the faucets in our bathroom sinks but he isn't finished yet, lacking some parts underneath that would make the two hot and cold water tubes connected to the main plumbing and gets the water to flow. Hopefully, he can do the job right to avoid paying someone to do the job for him. I know it's going to cost and as much as possible we do the work that we capable to do to save money.

New Flooring And Toilet Installed

After a quiet a while of waiting to change our bathroom flooring, it has now installed. Two weeks ago the flooring guy came over for the third time to finish Jadyn's bathroom installing the floor and just last weekend, my husband installed the new toilet. I felt relieved for I no longer have to deal with slow flusher old toilet.
....... above is of the new vinyl bamboo look flooring in the second bathroom... and below is the not so fancy shiny new toilet that Jadyn is going to use when she is potty trained.
... photo below is of the master bath which I include here for you to peek. It used to have a dark red carpet here that looks gross...

Master Bath Makeover

Here are the BEFORE and AFTER photos of our master bath. When I first entered this bathroom before the makeover, it felt spooky and dark and didn't like it. So what we do here is totally changed the color of the wall, removed the wallpaper and painted with white. The floor is replaced with bamboo style vinyl.

BEFORE PHOTOS

.... you see the dark walls here and the very old toilet...just disgusting... not to mention the carpeted floor in the bathroom... hello??? nothing more yucky than having an old rotten kind of damp maroon carpet where you relieve and shower yourself...

AFTER PHOTOS

.......... and here's the job we did in the bathroom. We changed the wall into white, I painted the cabinets with white, replaced the toilet with a new one and have some color coordination in this area which is green.
.... photo below is a shot taken from my side of the sink looking into the shower. I painted both sink walls light blue that matches the color in the hallway...
So tell me if we are doing a good job here lolz.. more home improvement photos to come in the future.

Before And After

Photos below show the difference of our study room. My husband did a good job in transforming our study from dull to refreshingly cool room. He even carefully culk the cracks that run across the room in between the wall and the wood paneling .

....below is the old study room shot, as you can see it looks dull and very dark, the yellow carpet which is over ten years old that looks gross.
.......this photo is the current look of our study. hubby just finished working in this part of the house. he painted it meadow light and white ceiling. we used light blue curtain here to match our hall way which is also light blue. the carpet and wall definitely are a match too!

Study Room Is Ready

Our study is ready and all it needs now is to set up the desktop computer and furniture. Today my husband kept himself busy by putting up all the curtains that we bought yesterday at Ross and Lowe's. He is making a big job in doing those and I applaud him for that. The study room especially because it looks so pretty and cool to the eyes.

He painted the walls meadow light, same to our bedroom with matching greenish silvery carpet. To top with that, we bought a light blue curtain that makes BIG PLEATS which matches the hallway. For me, it's near perfect. I also put one of my indoor live plants near the window to make the look fresh. Unfortunately though I can't share pic just yet as our digital camera is dead and my cellphone is out of service.

need more office furniture

We are so ready to set up our study room. My husband made a good job in painting our study and transformed it like new. He culked, repaired the cracks on the wall and ceiling. He is a perfectionist type of person and he wants everything be done according to his wants. He painted it meadow light which is the same color as our bedroom. It's amazing how a new paint can do to an older house yet retain its original siding.

In his day off, we plan of buying curtains for our study and probably look for a new office furniture. We have few of them but they are very old. In fact, the ones that are in the study right now are what he's planning of using but geezzz they look so ugly that they don't match the newly painted room.

new baths

My husband and I were debating whether to change Jadyn's bathroom's color because I painted it dark pink and white and my husband doesn't like the color. He thinks the pink paint is too dark for in a bathroom so he wants to repaint it with something light. Ok, that is fine with me as long as he do it for I am not going to redo that bathroom ever. Baths are the most essential parts of the house. They need to be flawlessly clean for it is where humans relieve themselves.

Once our baths are done, I promise to keep up with the cleaning because we have a baby that loves spending time in the bathroom especially in the tub. I want her to be germ-free while playing in the tub you know.

Speaking about baths, I found this website that is specializing in selling bathroom furniture, bath accessories, showers, shower taps, bathroom toilets, bathroom tiles and a whole lot more. Right now they currently have stock clearance of up to 55% off which is nice since we do still have to buy for more bath accessories. I love it when I see a website that offers clearance sale, this way I can buy stuff we need for less than the original price.

Taking The Risk

Today I've finished painting all the trims with white glossy paint. Finally I am done with this tiring job hmmmmmp. My husband is off so he worked in the master bathroom and for that I am thankful he did the job on my behalf because I hate working there. It needs one more coating and hopefully he will do it tomorrow. I dread to paint in our bathroom for some reason, I don't know.

On the other hand, our job was a success. We've done the painting job and not leaving any stain on the carpet. If there were two or three drips of paint, we cured it right away. I am just thankful though that we got a stain resistant carpet or if not we could have left the new carpet with white paint. That would be terrible.
