Made In America

I've been following Diane Sawyer's segment "Made In America" on ABC where they visit a house and check all the stuff that's inside it whether it's made in America or not. Those that aren't will be tossed out. As you expect it, most American stuff apparently are made from China. There is this one house they went into, checked the things they can find in there from the smallest toys to the biggest furniture most of which were from China. The only thing that's left in there is the VASE, the only one that is made in America.

This means it's time to give the Americans back their job by buying only stuff that are made in this country.  If a lot of people would do that, factories or manufacturers would open more jobs to the people and make more goods to sell.

Just the other day, I saw my husband bought a new U.S flag from Lowe's. As he about to hang it outside the front porch, I asked "where is it made? Is it from Annin?" He had no idea what I was talking about. Then I replied, Annin is a company that is local I think it is based in Minnesota that makes US flags. He couldn't answer my question but he assured me what he bought is US made. I somehow hesitant to that so I went outside and looked at the tag of the flag, he was right IT IS MADE IN AMERICA although it is from a different company.

I feel a sigh of relief after that because at least we have something in this house that is not from communist China, the flag that is hanged outside our house is indeed made in America.

I Voted For The Very First Time

I cast my vote for gubernatorial candidate yesterday! Yippppppeyy! Such an experience to have voted for someone who I think could greatly do something in the whole state of Texas. I will not disclose though who my vote went for because it's a secret and I don't want to talk any kind of politics here in my blogs. It's a sensitive topic and I don't want to involve myself in a thing that I can't debate. I am not just good at it.

Anyway, it was my very first vote in the United States of America. I am somewhat proud of that for I did what I have to do as a citizen in this country. The voting session lasted only a minute. Since I am a newbie I had to read the instructions first to make sure that I could operate their little voting machine or booth. One minute is longer, the process just normally takes at least ten seconds for people who have used the booth for several times.

I could tell the big difference the way the voting is done here than in the Philippines. Such a troublesome to do it in my home country and it takes hours and hours of falling in line or just to get the voting done before you could get out of the designated precinct.

My First Patriotic Act

I am supposed to post these photos of us attending the tea party last weekend but I kept forgetting doing it. These are photos of us at the tea party held at the Convention Center in Fort Worth last Saturday. It was my first time to attend such event. As an American citizen I ought to know what is going on in the country and the current event.

Before I wasn't naturalized yet, I couldn't care less about the country but my points of view changed when I became one. I somehow feel that I should voice out my concern and be concern of the country itself for I am living here and I am one of the citizens that seeks the truth.

...photo above is of me wearing the shirt we bought at the convention center saying: I believe ILLEGAL MEANS ILLEGAL...oh yeah baby! we've worked hard on our papers for so long to make me legal living in this country but those Mexicans who don't have pride for themselves just climb the border and make a living in the U.S
