My father gave me a Filipino-English dictionary when I first came to America for his intention was to teach my husband how to speak our language. I did try my best asking him if he could open the little book but he never seemed to listen to me that says only one thing, he is not interested in learning my language. That is fine with me as I can only drag the horse to go to the river but can't force him to drink the water.
As for other husbands I know, they willingly study the language themselves which I find cool. Those that aren't speaking English, they shop online for learner english dictionary and studied English before they jump into studying the more complicated and harder language such as Cebuano or Visayan.
